What Rudolph Days are...
In our house, we LOVE Christmas. That is my most favorite holiday. I am part of a wonderful Yahoo Group called Christmas All Year (CAY) where we "celebrate" Christmas every 25th of the month. This idea originated from the "Rudolph Club" from http://christmas.organizedhome.com/rudolph-club
So what do we do on Rudolph Day? We basically celebrate/enjoy a little Christmas that day. Here are some ideas for those who want to participate in Rudolph Days:
- if you do purchasing on eBay you can get the best prices on Christmas-related goods after Christmas and throughout the winter, spring and summer, as some dealers don't want to wait till the fall to sell their goods, when there's alot more competition
- Try out a new Christmas recipe (this is my favorite - try all new recipes during the year and save the ones you like...you are so busy at Christmas, why waste your time trying a recipe that ends up turning out bad....at least this way you know you will like the recipe since you've made it earlier in the year)...don't forget to put some Christmas music on.
- Start a Christmas Craft - whether it's for a gift, for yourself, a decoration item, etc
- Start a Christmas Binder - this is where you store your favorite recipes, crafts, articles, poems, card list, gift list, etc.
- Watch a Christmas Movie - sometimes we don't have time around the actual Christmas season to sit down and truly watch a Christmas movie....here's your chance
- Go to the library - not many people take out Christmas stuff from the library, so now is your chance to get your hands on some. Whether it's a movie, music, books, cookbooks, etc. You might even be able to find some Christmas magazines too.
-"celebrate" a mini-Christmas - put up a mini Christmas tree with lights (and maybe mini ornaments), listen to some Christmas music, have some hot cocoa and just relax.
- think about gifts whether store bought or homemade. If you're making homemade gifts, you can make them anytime (except for baked goods of course unless later in the year). If you are going to make edible gifts or even some mixes in a jar, make them for yourself first to see how they come out.
-Another idea, is to keep an eye out for Christmas items at tag sales and thrift stores. It's very easy to overlook those items during the year when you are not thinking about Christmas....but if you're doing rudolph days every month, then you would be thinking about the holidays.
